2016 Arthur Ellis Award Winners Announced

The Crime Writers of Canada has announced the nominees for the 2016 Arthur Ellis Awards as follows:
Grand Master Award Recipient: Eric Wright (posthumously)
Best Novel: OPEN SEASON, by Peter Kirby (Linda Leith Publishing)
Best First Novel: THE UNQUIET DEAD, by Ausma Zehanat Khan (Minotaur)
Best Novella: “Black Canyon,” by Jeremy Bates (in DARK HEARTS; Ghillinnein Books)
Best Short Story: “The Avocado Kid,” by Scott Mackay (Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, June 2015)
Best Book in French: L’AFFAIRE MYOSOTIS, by Luc Chartrand (Quebec Amerique)
Best Juvenile/YA: TROUBLE IS A FRIEND OF MINE, by Stephanie Tromly (Kathy Dawson Books)
Best Nonfiction: EMPIRE OF DECEPTION, by Dean Jobb (HarperCollins)
Best Unpublished First Crime Novel: WHEN THE FLOOD FALLS, by Jayne Barnard
The winners were announced at The 2016 Arthur Ellis Awards Gala on May 26 at the Arts and Letters Club in Toronto, Canada.
